Little Jenna smiles a toothy grin and wags her fluffy tail so intently that her whole body curls back and forth. Charka sings to me, his throaty voice a cross between a supressed howl and a yelp for joy. Robbie sings too. Mike and Joe are young dogs, enormous white fluffy beasts with giant heads and feet. They love attention, just the same as the other dogs and smile from ear to ear when they recieve it. The dogs fill my heart with love, the love that permeates the farm, the camaraderie shared between fowl, bovine, feline, canine, and human. Even the sheep, some of them, and the goats, come to say hello and enjoy a soft stroke behind the ear or scratch under the chin. What a wonderful life.
And so, this Thanksgiving, I share these blessings with you. May you find the grace in your heart to see the small things as the big things, to find peace in the rustle of the leaves or the bustle of the city, and joy in the smile and song of the dog or music tuned in on the radio. May your life be full of harmony with your surroundings and may your heart be mindful of the gifts bestowed upon you daily. May we all be grateful for what we have, not what we want. This Thanksgiving, may you be happy truly. Blessings to you and yours. Happy Thanksgiving!
