In the meantime, the fencing is getting done, with the rams, ewes and their lambs and does and their kids all out to pasture finally. My dear cousin Dave and my son have been working on the fencing and I am very thankful to them for the hard work. It is tiring and today it poured rain for most of the day, so the conditions were less than desirable.
There are 17 new goslings to go with the 8 hatched the other day. Actually, there were 9 but one got lost somewhere and did not make it. The geese have not brought the new goslings out because there are still a dozen unhatched eggs, but she is not sitting on them much and likely they are cold and will not hatch. Mamma turkey has only 3 of her 5 hatchlings now. Turkeys are so small and helpless when first new, but the mother is a good one. A new lamb was born, another Jacob/Babydoll cross, a tiny little girl about 4 pounds and perfect. She is beautiful. There are three more ewes due to lamb, but it appears they have a bit of time to go yet. A sheep cold has been circulating the flock, so some moms have had to be given a shot of antibiotics. They will require a second shot in a few days. The cold, wet weather is not helping at all! It snowed in Alberta this morning, but thankfully, not here, though it was only 8 degrees last night. And so, it is the end of another busy farm day and there is peace in my heart. Bless you all and sweet dreams.
