Robbie has killed small ducklings because they are fun to chase and the girls, Jenna and Jade, join in. They are young dogs, all the dogs on this farm. Only Harley, who was a rescue, is middle aged at 5. Joe and Mike are very good for their age, brothers of a whole year and have only chased a few chickens and ducks, but not killed any.
The dogs have thick coats and it is very hot, thirty degrees Celsius out there. Though they shed their downy undercoats, they still have fairy thick fur and they get over heated. They will seek out water and submerge themselves to cool off. We have a stream and a pond and they do meander down there several times a day. They also dig holes and lie in the cool earth.
For a gardener, the digging of holes, especially in the flower beds, is not desired. So I put stakes up to deter them from wanting to lie in the cool earth. Well, Ofcharka just positioned himself between the stakes and lay down anyhow, right on the Sweet William just planted. Joe dug a hole on the north side of the shed and parked himself there and Jade dug a hole right under the porch. I cannot blame them because it must be awful to be so hot.
I could do without the holes though, my puppies!
