The chickens, ducks, geese and guineas come down to the deck in the early morning and afternoon. The chickens have scratched through the manure put there last year to build the soil. The ducks eat the grass near the deck and around the gate nearer to the creek. It is green and fresh and very tasty, I am sure. The geese make their rounds, munching down the lawn as they travel, but they also eat the pansies and a few of the other flowers. They have completely demolished the ferns and Lily of the Valley, which is toxic to sheep, but apparently not to the geese. They won't be around too much longer though, so at least they are enjoying good food for the last part of their lives. Soon they will be freezer geese.
The guests enjoy watching the birds amble along in the morning, as they sit on the deck with their hot cup of tea or coffee. And I am truly blessed to enjoy this piece of paradise. Thank you Creator.
